Hip replacements in the United States have traditionally been performed through the traditional posterior approach. Only a small percentage of surgeons perform hip replacement using the Anterior Approach. However, both the anterior approach and anterior approach hip replacement are by no means new to orthopedic surgery. Nor are they “experimental”. Dr. Gil Ortega completed a three year term as an orthopaedic trauma subcommittee member for the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS).  His duties included reviewing research, serving as a moderator for paper presentations, and serving as a critical member for AAOS symposiums and presentations.  He enjoyed serving on the committee. read more…

Gil Ortega is scheduled to be giving a lecture at the Masters’ Surgeon Fracture Forum in Huntington Beach, CA in April 2015. The forum represents 50-60 of the top orthopaedic trauma surgeons from all over the world that meet yearly to discuss case controversies, emerging techniques and technologies.

Gil Ortega is scheduled to be giving a lecture on “Distal Tibia Fractures” while at the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) Annual Meeting, March 2015, Las Vegas, NV. He will also be moderating the “Hip Session” that consists of current research papers that represent some of the finest national and international research work. The AAOS annual meeting is attended by practicing orthopaedic surgeons from all over the world.
